This year, the RVDGA Board has authorized a Winter Match Play Series. This will make your round on certain Saturday’s a bit more intense and provide an interesting dynamic to competition within the club.
Here is how it will work.
Registration will begin Saturday, October 17th at tags. Tags that day will be at Pleasant View DGC. David will have a simple sign up sheet. You can fill that out and pay $5 to David or sign up online, right here. Registration will end at tags on October 31st, also at Pleasant View DGC. Your money and form or online sign up will need to be completed to be entered.
The first week of November, we will conduct a Random Draw. We will utilize Random.org. Sign ups will be numbered. So, if you are the first to sign up, you will be registration number 1 and so on. At Random.org we will randomly generate a list of numbers based on registration sign ups. The 1st number will play the 2nd, the 3rd will play the 4th, and so on.
A bracket will be created and uploaded to this website. Everyone will have access to it at all times. Matches will happen at tags. The first weekend where matches will occur is November 14th, also at Pleasant View DGC.
Using the bracket, if players who play each other both attend tags, their match will happen right then. They will be put on the same card for tags. There score will count towards tags, and they will also track the number of holes won. The winner will advance on the bracket.
If you are unable to attend tags or will not be available to compete, please don’t sign up. Alternatively, players could agree to a time and date within a reasonable time to complete their match.
We will continue the matches until the bracket is complete and a winner is crowned.
- Any leftover money from this event will be donated to the club. Winner receives as nice a trophy as registration will allow.
- There is no separate Ace Pot, players are only eligible for the club ace pot with their $1 entry at tags.
- Random draw is the only way to make it as fair as we can. There is no divisions, there is no handicap. You compete against whoever, just like at tags.
- The $5 entry is a one time cost. Not every round or match. Just $5 to register.
